Health and Wellness Program:

Live life to it's fullest potential! Healthtech's Wellness Program utilizes several tests that provide valuable data pertaining to several aspects of one's health

  • The wellness screenings are held at your premises.
  • Specific wellness programs can be created and implemented to meet your organization's needs.
  • A brief interpretation of the results is provided to each screening participant.
  • Relevant information sheets are available for each screening performed.
  • Quality control is performed on all machines used in the screenings.

We can provide the following screenings:

 Cholesterol Blood Pressure
  Glucose Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR)
Hemoglobin A1c Body Mass Index (BMI)
  ALT/AST Percent Body Fat
  Osteoporosis TB Skin Test

Cholesterol:

The importance of the knowledge of one's blood cholesterol level has been stressed extensively in countless publications. An abnormally high level is one of the major risk factors for heart disease. The sooner the abnormality is found, the better the prognosis since each year more than a million people in the United States have heart attacks and about a half million die from heart disease. Healthtech's equipment provides an accurate measurement of total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, and triglycerides. The LDL-cholesterol is given from a calculation.

Glucose:

Elevated blood sugar (diabetes) can lead to serious health problems. It is the leading cause of kidney failure and blindness. Diabetics experience strokes and fatal heart attacks more often than other persons. Healthtech measures the blood level of glucose (blood sugar) and also the hemoglobin A1C (this latter measurement indicates the average glucose level over the last two to three months). Many persons have harmful levels of blood glucose and yet are not aware of this condition as symptoms may not manifest until damage has been done.

Hemoglobin A1c:

Elevated blood sugar (diabetes) can lead to serious health problems. It is the leading cause of kidney failure and blindness. Diabetics experience strokes and fatal heart attacks more often than other persons. Healthtech measures the blood level of glucose (blood sugar) and also the hemoglobin A1C (this latter measurement indicates the average glucose level over the last two to three months). Many persons have harmful levels of blood glucose and yet are not aware of this condition as symptoms may not manifest until damage has been done.

ALT/AST:

ALT and AST, naturally occurring enzymes, when elevated, indicate possibly significant health problems, especially involving the liver. Several frequently prescribed medications are known to cause liver complications. It is estimated that a very large number of Americans have livers infected with the hepatitis C virus. This very lethal virus raises the ALT and AST blood levels.

Osteoporosis:

Osteoporosis, or porous bone, is a disease characterized by low bone density and thus structural deterioration of bone tissue leading to an increased risk of fractures of especially the hip, spine and wrist. The National Institute of Health (NIH) states that ten million Americans suffer from osteoporosis and over 30 million others have bone density low enough to put them at risk for painful and debilitating fractures. Osteoporosis occurs also in men. Persons can be symptom-free for many years, all the while losing bone density. Thus, it is important to be tested for bone density. Healthtech utilizes an instrument employing ultrasound technology and not radiation. It has compared favorably with the standard DEXA radiation examination.

Blood Pressure:

High blood pressure is often called the "silent killer" since there are no noticeable symptoms for many years. During this time, considerable damage to many body organs and tissues can result. The elevated pressure can lead to conditions such as heart failure, heart attack, stroke, aneurysm and kidney damage. It is estimated that more than 50 million Americans have high blood pressure. Detecting this problem allows one to take appropriate measures such as medication, diet and the proper forms of exercise.

Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR):

The resting metabolic rate, RMR, provides important data that help to optimize a weight control program. Using the results of this test, the food and beverage intake can be adjusted to account for the proper caloric intake/metabolic rate correlation. The equipment Healthtech uses provides printed information suggesting not only calorie amounts but also the levels of exercise for the tested individual.

Body Mass Index (BMI):

The Body Mass Index (BMI) is a calculation derived from the height and weight of an individual. This determination gives a more reliable indication of a meaningful body fat status than the standardized height/weight tables. It is calculated by dividing the weight in pounds by the height in inches squared and multiplying by a conversion factor of 703. This index provides relevant data that can be used in establishing a weight control program.

Percent Body Fat:

Excess weight leads to several health problems including hypertension, diabetes, heart disease and stroke. Measurement of percent body fat is more closely related to these problems than just the total weight.

Tuberculosis Skin Testing:

Tuberculosis is an increasing and major world-wide problem. The new multi-drug resistant strains can cause serious health problems and can be fatal. This test is accomplished by injecting a small amount of protein, derived from tuberculosis bacteria, into the forearm. Two days later, the injection site is examined and measured. Swelling that feels firm to the touch and is larger than a certain size indicated a positive result. Treatment should then be initiated as soon as possible.
